A Creative, Experiential Approach to Therapy
Drama therapy is an expressive and experiential form of therapy, similar to art or music therapy. It is an embodied practice that invites movement, imagination, and creativity into the therapeutic process.
Rather than relying only on conversation, drama therapy uses techniques drawn from theatre — such as storytelling, improvisation, role-play, creative writing, and guided visualization — to support emotional expression, insight, and change. This approach can be especially helpful when words feel hard to find, or when talking alone doesn’t fully capture what you’re experiencing.
You do not need to be a performer or actor to benefit from drama therapy.
We all play roles in our lives — as children, parents, students, partners, professionals — and drama therapy offers a way to explore those roles with curiosity, flexibility, and care.
